The Joseph Smith Historic Site offers paid summer internships with housing.
Information on Internships for Summer 2024 will be available in Spring 2024.
SUMMER INTERNS SERVE AS HISTORIC INTERPRETERS, GIVING TOURS OF OUR HISTORIC 1840s STRUCTURES AND ASSISTING GUESTS IN OUR MODERN VISITOR CENTER
Named “The Alma Blair Internship Program,” hundreds of students since the 1970s have studied and shared our unique history with visitors from all over the world.
Not only is the internship paid, but you have the opportunity to earn up to 6 credit hours, studying under a professor who specializes in American religious history.
The internship is open to all college majors. Because interns serve as interpreters of history (and not as missionaries), people of all religious backgrounds are invited to apply, to include those with no religious beliefs.
Consider an internship in Nauvoo, Illinois, at the Joseph Smith Historic Site, for a rewarding and fun experience where you will
Deepen your understanding of how to be a professional historian
Improve your public speaking skills while leading professional tours
Serve in hospitality and tourism at a historic site
Assist in managing a retail store
Learn museum curation and artifact preservation
